Irish Luck, Laughter & Leprechauns ~ Loudoun County Welcomes New Race
1st Annual Bluemont Shamrock 5k/10k
A Regional Attraction Expected to Draw Hundreds of Racers and Spectators

Bluemont, VA - Western Loudoun Moms RUN This Town along with the Bluemont Community Center Advisory Board (BCCAB) have joined to organize Loudoun County's newest race, The 1st Annual Bluemont Shamrock 5k/10k. The race is set to take place March 21, 2015 at 8:00 am at Great Country Farms. All proceeds will fund program scholarships for The Bluemont Community Center.

"Being a runner and half-Irish myself, a St. Patrick's Day themed run was a no-brainer. It's a fun way to give back to the community I love," says Michelle Goodwin, Chapter Leader of Moms RUN This Town and race organizer. "They have helped me raise two, sweet, independent, and curious kids", says Loudoun County mom, Lori Thorn. "I would not consider any other option for childcare". The scholarship fund will be available to residents of all ages seeking attendance at the community center for a wide variety of programs and activities including pre-school and childcare.

The runners are not the only ones in for a treat. Spectators will enjoy entertainment, including a leprechaun chase for children. "We are excited to see everyone a week before Great Country Farms officially opens and will have coffee and everyone's favorite donuts available in the market," says Kate Zurschmeide, owner of Great Country Farms.

Race registration is now underway! Please visit www.bluemontshamrock.com for more information.

About Bluemont Community Center:
The Bluemont Community Center is located in western Loudoun County in the village of Bluemont. The center strives to provide services to the citizens of Loudoun County in a friendly small-town atmosphere. Bluemont is staffed by four full-time support people and many other dedicated teachers and child care professionals. The center itself is an old schoolhouse which opened in 1923, and served the community until the early 1960s. The school then sat empty until 1988 when the local community provided the spark to convert the building into a Community Center. The center is especially proud of its state-licensed preschool and daycare programs. With small classes and nurturing teachers, it is an ideal spot for young children to grow and learn. Please stop by the center and meet the staff and check out our programs. For more information visit http://www.loudoun.gov/index.aspx?NID=1221.

About Great Country Farms:
Great Country Farms is a 200 acre working farm situated at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains outside the village of Bluemont, VA. Great Country Farms offers produce as well as the farm experience to its customers. The farm started with a Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA) which has grown over the years and delivers produce to homes as far as Alexandria and Arlington. In 1996 and again in 2007, the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce voted Great Country Farms, "Agribusiness of the Year" for its unique efforts to farm in a difficult climate through innovation, rather than selling out and growing houses.
